Down vs feather pillows: what is the difference?
Down and feather are often mentioned together, but they do different jobs inside a pillow. The best choice depends on whether you want softness, support, or a balance of both.
Quick answer
Down adds a softer, lighter feel. Feather adds more structure and shape. The NUVELL Pillow uses double chamber construction so the outer chamber feels softer while the feather core helps support the pillow profile.
What down does
Down is the softer, fluffier part of the fill blend. It helps create the cushioned surface feel people often associate with premium hotel pillows.
What feather does
Feather gives a pillow more body and shape. It helps the pillow feel more supportive and easier to fluff back into form.
Why chamber construction matters
A simple mixed-fill pillow can feel different depending on how the fill settles. Chamber construction separates fill zones. In the NUVELL Pillow, the outer fill is 30% white duck down and 70% white duck feather, while the inner fill is 100% white duck feather.
That structure is designed to give a softer outside feel with a more supportive center. It also helps explain why NUVELL offers both Soft 900g and Firm 1300g versions of the same 50 x 70 cm pillow.
Care is part of the feel
Down and feather pillows should be kept dry, aired regularly, and protected with a pillowcase or pillow protector where possible. Do not wash, bleach, iron, or dry clean the NUVELL Pillow itself. For full details, read the NUVELL care guide.
